CALLING ALL ONTARIANS! On June 2, Ontarians head to the polls to elect provincial leaders. THIS IS OUR SHOT to ensure RARE is a key election issue – it’s now YOUR TURN engage with candidates from all political parties!!! You don’t have to be eligible to vote to take part – for example, kids and babies represent so many of us with rare diseases – so let’s get as many patients, caregivers and family members involved as possible!
For more background, the Ontario New Democratic Party and the Liberal Party of Ontario have already said they would implement a provincial rare disease strategy if elected (see a recent political roundtable on the issue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUq504zFjg8). The Progressive Conservatives are currently leading in the polls, so we need that promise from them, as well. You’re going to help us get it!
We have developed a toolkit to help you easily engage in advocacy during the leadup to the election. The goal is to make it VERY, VERY EASY for you. See more details on “how to engage” at the following Google Doc and a comprehensive guide to the 2022 provincial election. Let us know if you have any questions.
Let’s make #Ontario4Rare and #Canada4Rare happen in 2022!
